Hand
built and kits
There
seems to be a small resurgence in kits at the moment especially
from the UK manufactures. Led by Marsh Models, but closely
followed by K&R Replicas and SMTS
This
month Marsh has released a multi kit version of the Ferrari
312P spyder. Kit MM183 will make six versions of the car
from 1969, four of which were driven by Chris Amon. #25
2nd Sebring, #60 4th Brand Hatch, #1 DNF Monza and #7 DNF
Nurburgring

K&R
tell us that at the same time as the Paul Hawkins Austin
Healey Sprite from Nurburgring is released
there will also be a kit of the Rouen GP car. So lots of
Hawkeye subject to chose from or why not collect
them all, nice little collection theme come here I think.
It is a surprise to me how many vehicle types Paul
Hawkins drove in his short career, a true racing driver
who could drive anything from the little 1000cc
Sprites to the big Lola T70s
Good
news from SMTS is they will make available the Lotus 49T
Tasman car 1968 again just for us. Also they have re-released
the XJ12C (Big Cat) as driven by Tim Shenken in the 1977
ETCC and, while we are on the subject of Tim Schenken, we
now have stock of the Fuxia Models Surtees TS9b kit that
he drove in the British/French GP kit $90
Readymade
New
to us is Automollo from the USA making unusual American
based items such as the Griffiths 200, a TVR Grantura with
a V8 shoved in it, Bricklin SV-1 and soon to be released
Griffiths 600 At lest Jim Cowen is trying something different
with these limited release gems. www.automodello.com
And
a complete opposite is the Dip Models range of Soviet subjects
with their offerings of ZIS, Moskovic and ZIL vehicles.
Latest release is a Kim 10-51 Cabrio planned to be a mass
produced economy car based very much on the 1939 Ford Prefect.
Production was stopped due to WW2 so very few were in fact
built www.dipmodels.com
And
something a little different this month from Spark - an
offshore power boat in 1/ 43 scale at $195.00
In
amongst the huge amount of readymade releases this month
is a 1965 Le Mans Healey Sprite from Bizarre driven by Paul
Hawkins, a model which is at least relevant to us.
