Coming
soon from Marsh Models will be the McLaren M6GT road car,
the first of the McLaren supper cars. This was from the
late 60s as a development of the Group 7 Can Am M6 it
was intended to produce enough cars to enter it in the
Group 4 GT class at races like Le Mans but, with homologation
and rule changes, the project was scraped. It was planned
for the car to go into production for road use but again
it never made it and only 3, or maybe 4, were produced.
Bruce used the prototype OBH 500H as his personal transport
until his untimely death in June 1970. The car was then
shipped to New Zealand by Denny Hulme for display at the
transport and technology museum but later sold to a US
buyer and is now part of the Mathews collection in the
US.
Just
released by Ilario in his Contacts range, the Jaguar E2A.
This comes as the Le Mans test car and the Le Mans race
version but, more important to us, the version that raced
in the US at Riverside/Laguna Seca driven by Jack Brabham/Bruce
McLaren. These are limited to 80 built only at approx
$235.00 each.
Spark
have just released this Lotus 25 BRM of Chris Amon from
the French GP 1964
Just
before Christmas we received our first delivery from
Neo Scale Models of Holland (made in China). Wow
is all I can say. Their Jaguar Mk7 8 & 9s are absolutely
stunning. If you are looking for classic European road
cars these are unbeatable at around $85 but you will
have to be quick if you want a particular colour. Our
suppliers can only guarantee them if they are pre ordered
as the colour combination are as low as 300 to 500 were
as the standard release is 1000. neoscalemodels.com
Finally
this month we have confirmation from Neil Murry of the
Aston Martin Heritage Trust that all Aston Martin works
DBR1s 2s 4s 5s from the late 50s were painted Almond
Green so that includes the DBR1/300 of Jack Brabham
as raced at Nurburgring, Le Mans and the TT in 1958.
The AM Project cars from the early 60s were painted
California Sage Green and that includes the P214 that
Bruce McLaren drove at Le Mans 1963.
