October News 2008

As announced in the last newsletter, the Bathurst winning B&H Sierra Cosworth RS500 is now ready and the first batch has gone out. This kit will build any of the three cars, number 25 from 1988 the winner, or number 20 or 25 from 1989.

Usual price for kits at $85 each or $210 for all three. Built $275 each or POA for all three.

B & H SierraThe drafting is now under way for the Shell Sierras and, hopefully, this kit will be available around the end of the year. This kit will enable any of the 14 different versions to be built that raced at Bathurst between 1987 and 1992. It will include both types of wheels and all decal options.

In the meantime we are offering the following limited editions, only 5 built of each subject. Price $295.

These may be available as kits in the future if sufficient interest is shown.

If you are interested in more Sierra’s let us know.

  • #35 Miedecke – Smith OXO sponsored car 1987
  • #05 Brock – Rouse Mobil sponsored car 1989
  • #4 Bond – Stewart Caltex sponsored car 1989

The artwork for the 1985/86 Bob Jane T Marts BMW 635CSi is at the printers. These kits should be available by the end of October. We are taking orders now. Price: kit $85 built $250

Close on the heels of the Alezan Alfa Sprint Giocattolo Holden V8 is another Aussie super car. This time from Spark, a Schuppan Porsche 962CR. Yes, this is a road car based on the Porsche 962 IMSA race car. Constructed in the UK, it was a true super car with a top speed of 230mph -it eventually bankrupted Vern after two cars sent to Japan didn’t get paid for. It is believed there are 5 or 6 real examples in existence. The models come in Black, Silver or Metallic Blue (Japan). The Black version has different wheels and rear view mirrors to the Silver/Blue versions. We now have suppliers in UK/Europe, USA and Japan for Spark, Bizarre and Red Line models, so we should be able to obtain any of these brands. Prices will vary due to exchange rate and postage.

If you are into Land Speed Record cars, Bizarre have just released Thrust SSC, the current record holder at 763.035 mph. Price approx $300, but it is a big model even in 1/43 scale.

We have decided to drop plans to make our own Tasman Series range until we can find out what is likely to be available from other manufacturers. We understand that SMTS, Spark, Jade Miniatures all have model in the pipeline.

The latest postal price increases are mainly insurance related and there is now an International Registered Parcel service which means we can send kits/models signed for, but uninsured, with a saving of around 30% to Europe, USA, Asia & NZ

Parcel prices have remained the same within Australia, but insurance has increased. We have experienced some delays recently within Australia with some packages taking twice the estimated time to arrive. Unfortunately, if payment has not cleared by 9AM Friday, goods will not normally be posted until the following Friday and, with the delays we are experiencing, it can be more than 14 days before you receive them. So we will try and post twice a week, Tuesday & Friday from now on.
