Months News First
of all I must apologise for the doom and gloom this month, but in recent weeks
there has been some very high postal increases from certain countries. Shipping
costs via insured mail from the likes of Germany, France, Switzerland, Canada
& USA are now astronomical, very often as much as the kits themselves. We
will no longer buy in one-off kits from manufacturers in these countries. We will
continue to supply kits from all manufacturers but sourced from indirect means
rather than from the manufacturers. This will enable us to buy from various manufacturers
and spread the postal charges, this should relate to little or no price increase
to you. Unfortunately this will increase the time it takes to obtain these items.
All kits/model that are currently on order are not affected but anything ordered
from June 1st will be subject to these terms. Whilst
on the subject of postal charges there are more and more countries not accepting
insured Air Mail as we only send built models insured the only alternative is
to send them via courier. This cost is approximately double the old registered/insured
Air Mail. More
bad new on the model front a 400% increase in Zinc prices has taken its toll on
the price of the white metal kits & models. Expect to pay more for metal kit/model
in the near future and as oil prices affect the price of resin they will not be
far behind with price increases. This is not only affecting our niche market but
also the larger die-cast manufacturers. On
a brighter note we expect to have the Bob Jane Mk2 Jag in stock this month and
are expecting the RS1800 any day. Marsh Model have announced a new range of kits
& built models called Velocity starting with 8 Greenwood Corvettes
the built models will be made by the same company as builds the BBR Gasoline range
so quality should be assured.
 Along
the same lines SMTS are releasing a built range starting with a host of BRM P57s
from the early 60s
The
studio is becoming rather over crowded so we are selling off some of the older
built display models. Check out the Studio Built
Specials page, we will be adding more over the next few months. We have been
contacted by a collector that is looking to sell off some older kits many Corvettes,
but also a few Shadows. If you would like the list contact us and we would be
happy to pass it on.
Meanwhile take a look at what has been released this month by visiting Our
